Mephibosheth is the son of Jonathan and the grandson of King Saul. As a little boy, a servant girl dropped him during a flight and he became paralyzed or crippled. King David has already had several of his brothers killed, so when Mephibosheth is asked to join David, he fears the worst. But David kisses him like a brother and restores him as a prince. All's well that ends well?
