Hannah was the wife of Elkana and mother of Samuel. Hannah could not have children. At the annual visit to the holy place in Siloam, she prays to God in tears. The high priest Eli thinks she is drunk. Hanna promises God that if she has a child, she will give the child back to God. A year later, she becomes the mother of Samuel.
