David is the second king of Israel. As a young boy, he was a shepherd. David, of course, became known for his victory over the giant Goliath. After years on the run from Saul, David becomes king. The Bible story of how David danced before the ark and the affair with Bathsheba are especially well known. A large number of the psalms are attributed to David.
