Object lesson - NT: Life of Jesus 04: Jesus' baptism - Why the dove?

Why did God choose a dove to represent the Holy Spirit?

In this activity, children will explore the symbolism behind the Holy Spirit as a dove and consider alternative animal symbols that might also be appropriate. They will gain a deeper understanding of the Holy Spirit and His significance in Christian faith.

This idea is part of a complete Sunday school lesson on the baptism of Jesus in Matthew 3:13–17, Mark 1:9–11 and Luke 3:21–22.
