Craft - Easter (06): King of the Jews - A king's scepter or a shepherd's staff

The Roman soldiers gave Jesus a wooden stick as a kind of scepter

What a contrast to the shepherd’s staff that he uses as the good shepherd. The stick was meant to ridicule Jesus, whereas he leads people with his staff. In this activity the children will make and decorate their own shepherd's staff.

This idea is part of a complete Sunday School lesson on the Bible story of the crucifixion of Jesus in Matthew 27: 27-38.
