Biblical person: Simeon (prophet)

Creative activities and ideas based on the biblical figure of Simeon (prophet)

Simeon was a prophet who appears in the Bible in the Gospel of Luke. According to the account, Simeon was a righteous and devout man living in Jerusalem at the time of Jesus' birth. The Holy Spirit had revealed to him that he would not die until he had seen the Lord's Christ. When Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to the temple for the rite of purification, Simeon was there and recognized Jesus as the fulfillment of God's promise. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, "My eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people."
