Biblical person: Matthias (apostle)

Creative activities and ideas based on the biblical figure of Matthias (apostle)

Matthias was one of the disciples who was chosen to replace Judas Iscariot after he betrayed Jesus and took his own life. The disciples prayed and chose Matthias by casting lots, and he became one of the Twelve Apostles. However, little else is known about Matthias as he is not mentioned again in the Bible. According to some traditions, he went on to preach the Gospel in modern-day Georgia and was eventually martyred for his faith. Despite his brief appearance in the Bible, Matthias' story is a reminder that even those who seem insignificant can be called by God to play an important role in His plan.
