Biblical person: Elymas (Bar-Jesus)

Creative activities and ideas based on the biblical figure of Elymas (Bar-Jesus)

Elymas, also known as Bar-Jesus, was a Jewish magician and false prophet who opposed the preaching of the Gospel by Paul and Barnabas on the island of Cyprus. Elymas was struck blind by the power of the Holy Spirit, and he was later converted to Christianity. His story is recorded in Acts 13:4-12, where it is said that he was with Sergius Paulus, the Roman proconsul, when Paul and Barnabas arrived on the island. Elymas attempted to prevent the proconsul from hearing the message of Paul and Barnabas, but Paul rebuked him and he was struck blind. The proconsul was then converted to Christianity.
