Children's ministry does not correlate to the head count

Jesus only chose 12, he concentrated on just 3, and they changed the world. Your ministry success does not correlate to the head count.

Craft idea - Jesus says 'No' in the desert: 'Turn this stone into bread!'

A tasty way to think about this Bible story!

The devil comes to Jesus with his first temptation: "Turn this stone into bread." Jesus could have done this, but he doesn't want to use God's power for this. Nowadays we can use a microwave to transform the contents of an earthenware mug into a delicious cake within three minutes. Shall we try this?

Children's ministry is all about doing it together

Involve the whole church in your ministry. Remember the church is a family unit. Every member of your local church has an influence on the children in the kid's ministry even if they are not part of it.

Daily Tip - Children's ministry: It is all about variety

Everyday tip for your Sunday school lesson or children’s ministry

Children's ministry is all about variety

A children's ministry that is fun, attractive and very good at transferring biblical knowledge to children has to be full of variety. Nothing is as boring and therefore ineffective as a children's ministry without variety.

Variety ensures that the children can concentrate better. Change every five till ten minutes and take them with you in your journey.

Variety also ensures that you can hold the children's attention better. Because they don't know what kind of fun or crazy thing is going to come next, they will stay with their attention on the programme.

It's hard work! Variety in children's work requires a lot of energy and creativity, but the fruits are also very rewarding.

YouTube video - Jesus says 'No' in the desert: 'Adumu'

Use this secular YouTube video to hold a creative discussion with the children about the Bible story of the temptation of Jesus in the desert.

A modern young warrior falls off a motorcycle in the savannah of Africa. He only has a machine gun to protect himself. A large lion sees him as easy prey. On the road he meets a traditional African warrior with a spear. He takes the spear, but the lion chases him. He tries to kill the lion with his machine gun, but soon all the bullets are gone. The lion tries to tear him apart, but the traditional African warrior runs towards him and kills the lion. Then he gives his spear to the young boy and disappears.

This idea is part of a complete Sunday school lesson on the Bible story of the temptation of Jesus in the desert. (Luke 4: 1-14)

This idea will help the children in your Sunday school lesson, youth ministry, Bible lesson, VBS, kidmin, children’s church or children’s ministry to reflect on this powerful Bible passage.

The Easter surprise use this YouTube video to reflect on the resurrection of Jesus for Sunday school lessons childrens ministry youth ministry kidmin and VBS

Why is this film applicable to this Bible story?

You can see it as a symbolic story. We are like the young warrior. With our own weapons we try to resist the devil who, like a roaring lion, wants to catch people. We may not think we need Jesus, but soon discover that our weapons don't help us. Jesus kills the lion and gives us his weapon.

Important questions:

It’s important to always watch the film yourself beforehand and to ask yourself:
- do I want to show this to the children?
- does this film work in the context and age-range of the children I am working with?

Daily Tip - Children's ministry: It is all about being visual

Everyday tip for your Sunday school lesson or children’s ministry

Children's ministry is all about being visual

Why is it so important that everything in children's ministry has to be visual?

There are three reasons for this:

1. If something is visual, it holds the children's attention better. And that's what we want - for the children to participate full of attention and interest.

2. If something is visual, it helps the children to better understand the Bible teaching. Adults often think that the best way to learn is by listening. But listening to something and being able to see it at the same time, works so much better.

3. If something is visual, the children remember our Bible teaching so much better. It is proven that when people remember something, it comes:
- by seeing 75%
- by hearing 13%
- by feeling 6%
- by smelling it 3%
- by tasting 3%

Make your children's ministry as visual as possible!
