Prayer idea - Easter (06): King of the Jews - How do you feel about the cross?
A creative prayer idea about Simon carrying the cross of Jesus
How did Simon feel about having to carry the cross? Was he afraid? Angry? Sad? Or maybe thankful that he could help Jesus? In this activity the children will make their own crosses out of wooden sticks and reflect on their feelings as they contemplate the cross.
This idea is part of a complete Sunday School lesson on the Bible story of the crucifixion of Jesus in Matthew 27: 27-38.

Do:
Help the children talk about their feelings about the cross of Jesus. Does this make them sad, happy, angry, guilty, thankful? And why?
Let them write of draw their feelings about the cross on their small popsicle cross.
When the children have done this, they may place their small crosses near or under the big wooden cross.
