Poverty  in the Bible: Creative activities for your children's ministry

Poverty is a pervasive issue in our world today, and it has been a challenge throughout history. The Bible offers guidance on how to help those in need, particularly the poor. We see many examples of people who were poor or oppressed in the Bible, such as the widow in Zarephath who was about to prepare her last meal for herself and her son, or the Israelites who were enslaved in Egypt.

However, we also see how God intervenes in these situations, providing miraculous solutions to poverty and oppression. He calls on His people to be a part of that solution as well, by giving generously and sharing with those in need.

As Christians, it is important to consider what role we can play in addressing poverty in our own communities and around the world. We can teach children about the importance of giving and sharing, and how we can work together to make a difference. Through acts of kindness and generosity, we can make a positive impact on the lives of those in need.

On this page, you will find creative ideas, resources, and activities relating to poverty which you can use in your children’s ministry, kid’s church, Sunday school, or Christian primary school to encourage children to reflect on poverty, the responsibility we have to help those in need, and ways to make a difference.
