Biblical person: Zechariah (priest)

Creative activities and ideas based on the biblical figure of Zechariah (priest)

Zechariah was a priest of the line of Abijah and husband of Elizabeth, who was also from a priestly family. According to the Gospel of Luke, while serving in the temple, an angel appeared to him and foretold the birth of his son John the Baptist. However, Zechariah was skeptical and asked for a sign. As a result, he was struck mute until John's birth. When his son was born, he was able to speak again and praised God. Zechariah played an important role in the story of John the Baptist, as he and Elizabeth were the parents who raised and nurtured him.
