One by one the children introduce themselves, and are given three marshmallows, which they have to put in front of them.

The children can prevent this by calling out the name of another child if the king tries to take a marshmallow from them. If they say a name before the king has taken their marshmallow, the king has to then run to the child whose name has been called and take a marshmallow from them. But if that child also calls out the name of another child before their marshmallow has been taken…..then the king has to go to that child. And so on!

If the king does succeed in taking a marshmallow, they can eat it, and the child whose marshmallow was taken becomes the king.

How to make a stick drawing magically come to life this Easter

You can create a magical moment by bringing a stick figure to life.

This is ideal for when you do a talk about:

Easter
As a visual demonstration of the resurrection of Jesus and being alive in Christ!
"But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ."  (Ephesians 2:5)

How to make a stick drawing magically come to life this Easter an object lesson

Watch the two video's below to discover how you use this great object lesson!

Fun crafts idea

Of course you can also use it as a fun crafts idea, as shown in the video below!

How does it work?

As you can see in the videa all you need is a whiteboard marker and a flat, shiny surface. Use a whiteboard marker to draw a stick figure on a flat, shiny surface and drop a little water on it. Then you'll see the drawing slowly lift off the surface and become one with the watery bubble.

children 1151716

This is because the ink in a whiteboard marker, unlike a permanent marker, includes an oily silicone substance. Because oil sits on top of water so does this ink, which will also move as the puddle moves. By gently blowing on the puddle the stick figure will swish and dance around according to which way you blow on it.

The final product may look like an intricate optical illusion, but the stick figure comes to life thanks to only a whiteboard marker, some water and a shiny surface.

546. Creative activity / YouTube video - the calling of Peter

Use the video 'Chicken or the egg' to talk about following Jesus

A pig is sitting in a restaurant eating loads of eggs. He is addicted to eating eggs. Then suddenly the love of his life comes into the restaurant…and it is a chicken. Pig realises that if he wants to be with Chicken, he won’t be able to eat any more eggs, but only eat corn.

He manages to keep this up for a while, but then his longing for eggs becomes too strong! He sees them everywhere. In the middle of the night he gets out of bed to go to his favourite restaurant and order a plate of eggs. But just as he is going to take the first bite, he thinks of Chicken and his love for her.

Chicken or the Egg use this YouTube video in your kids ministry to talk about the Bible story of the calling of Peter

As morning breaks we see Pig bringing Chicken a lovely plate of corn for breakfast in bed.

Why does this film go with today’s Bible story?

In the Bible story Jesus calls the disciples to follow Him. Just as Pig did, they had to leave something behind out of love for the other person – for them it was their job, their security, looking after their families. They left behind everything that was important to them in order to follow Jesus.

It’s not easy to leave behind something that you love. That’s what this film and the subsequent activity is all about.

542. Introductory game – seek the fish!

An idea that kids as they come in...

This is an idea that children can be doing before the programme has actually started, as they come in.

You can use it for example with the story of Peter who has been fishing all night and hasn’t caught anything. The following day Jesus helps him to catch lots of fish and even calls him to become a fisher of men.

541. A Wonderful Demonstration of the Father’s Love in the Cross

A demonstration on how God's love and forgiveness flowed through the cross into our lives.

With this easy-to-do object lesson you can demonstrate to the children, young people and adults in your church how God's love and forgiveness flowed through Jesus death on the cross into our lives!

We at Creative Kidswork are real fans of TheDadLab Youtube Channel. Here is another of his great, short video's on easy-to-do science experiments.

I love this simple, but powerful object lesson about Easter. It is just a short video, but once you’ve seen it, you can use it to teach kids and adults on the meaning of Easter. It is a wonderful demonstration of how the Father showed His love for us in the cross of His Son.  You can use this easy to do object lesson to illustrate  how Gods love and forgiveness flowed through the cross into our lives! A great way to explain the Gospel with just the use of a piece of cotton string and two glasses. You have to watch this...

What do you need?

- Two glasses
- Water (with added food coloring)
- Absorbent cotton string (needs to be thicker than thread).

What do you do?

- Cut a 2 foot long segment of cotton string
- Soak the string in clear water until it is soaked through
- Fill up one cup to about half way with the colored water
- Put one end of the string into the cup with water and hold the other end above the empty cup
- Hold the cup with water in it, using your finger to keep the string in place at the rim of the glass.
- Pour the water slowly along the string.
- Be aware that some water will spill, so you may have to clean up afterwards.

539. Learning to look with Gods eyes - is it a duck or a rabbit?

An object lesson to teach kids, youth and adults about looking at things through God's eyes

Do you know this optical illusion? It is a rabbit or a duck? Depends how you turn the picture. This optical illusion can be used as a short introduction to any Bible story in which Jesus or God acts completely different than expected!

What do you need:

A4 print out of the duck/rabbit illustration ( 6MB) download: duck_rabbit_magic_care.jpg

 duck rabbit magic care screen

     duck

This illustration is special – if you hold it horizontally you’ll see a rabbit, and if you hold it vertically you’ll see a duck.

You show the kids the rabbit and ask them what they see - a rabbit!

Sometimes we can be so sure of ourselves. We think we know the truth and that we always see the truth, but sometimes God looks at things in a completely different way!

Turn the rabbit ninety degrees and it becomes a duck!

Today we are going to hear a Bible story in which God / Jesus acts completely different than expected!
