This object lesson can be used in conjunction with other material to tell the Christmas story or to introduce a lesson on the wise men.
“On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him.” (Matthew 2:11)
What do you need?
- a trick called “Silk Blow”
- three 9" or 12" silks
Set-up
This trick is purchased without the silks - you have to buy them separately. It is a clear tube, and you put the silks into one at a time. You blow on one end of the tube and they come out the other end tied together. No special setup required, just follow the instructions on the trick.
The object lesson / the routine
We often see three wise men or Magi when we see a nativity scene but the bible never specifically said there were three. We really don’t know how many there were. We will use these three pieces of cloth to represent the wise men, no matter how many there were. What we do know about them is that they were lead from a land in the east by a star. They came to Jerusalem and asked King Herod, “Where is the one born King of the Jews?”
