389. The wedding at Cana - a sketchboard story

Do what Jesus says

Have any of you ever been to a wedding?  We have a special service, and then a party with lots of good food, and we all wear our best clothes, don't we?  Our weddings only go on for a few hours, but in Jesus' time they went on for several DAYS.....!  People would bring food and drink, or they would give the young couple some money to help them set up home.

At this wedding, there was a special guest - who do you think it was?  JESUS.  He arrived at the party with all his friends, and they all had a wonderful time - the men would be eating in one room, the women in another (paint a group dancing) , and the servants would be out at the back organising the food and drink.  Here is the Steward of the Feast, the man in charge of serving out the food and drink.   Jesus' mother was there too. She heard a lot of worried talk going on in the kitchen.  The servants told her the wine was running out.  This was AWFUL news, The wedding feast would have to be called off halfway through - it was terrible.

Scripture reference

We find this Bible story in John 2: 1-11. A beautiful Bible story on Jesus' first miracle at the wedding at Cana where he turned water into wine and saved the day!

It has been written by Korky and Anni Davey (OAC ministries). You can however also tell the story without a painting.
