Jesus talks about God's heart for the lost
Jesus told lots of stories about being lost - lost people and lost things - he wanted to tell us how much God loves us, and wants us to be part of his family – The Bible tells us that God doesn't want anybody to be "lost".
Do you think everybody was happy to hear Jesus talk like this? Well, do you know what? some of them, the very important people, were not AT ALL happy. They said to themselves "Jesus does all the wrong things and he spends time with all the wrong people, and he even EATS with them...." having a meal with someone meant you thought they were good people, especially if you were a Rabbi, a special teacher, like Jesus. These people got very angry with Jesus and couldn't understand him at all. So this is why he told these stories about things that got lost - three in a row in Luke 15 so you can see he really wanted to explain it to them. (Luke 15)
