An easy to do gospel illussion from Rick Lenski
This Gospel illusion is from Rick Lenski and can be used in your children's ministry, Sunday school or kidmin. You don't have to be a Christian magician to do this trick.
Verse:
Matthew 24:24: “For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.”
Goal:
Tell about false gods and messiahs that will come.
What do you need:
Trick from Wonder Imagery. It is called “Back Up Bunny”. It consists of 3 silks. One is a duck, one is a pig and the last is a bunny. You will also get a thumb tip and small top hat. Go to the website to see a video and if you know how a thumb tip works it will go well.

Lesson
Setup:
Have all the silks ready per the instructions.
Tell:
There are forgeries and fakes everywhere. If someone makes something, odds are someone will copy it and sell it. They make counterfeit money and try to pass it off as the real thing. If you are trained, have the knowledge, and then you can easily identify the real thing.
Jesus said there would false gods and prophets coming and we have to know the real thing.
I will give you an example, I have brought with me a bunny and like every magician he is in the hat. Watch!
Do:
Produce the first fake rabbit.
Tell:
Look at that he tried to pretend he was a rabbit, but you know what a rabbit looks like and he is definitely not a rabbit. As I look in the hat, now here is my real bunny.
Do:
Produce the second fake bunny.
Tell:
Fake again. We all know what a rabbit should look like so here we go.
Do:
Produce the real rabbit.
Tell:
We have a real magician’s bunny.
Jesus said there would be false gods and prophets so how do we identify them? We have to read our bible and get to know God by what is taught in His word. When you study, when you pray, when you accept God as your personal savior, then you will know how to figure out the real from the fake god.
Note:
This would be the time to either highlight someone in the news that claims they are god. Or you can describe how Satan is a master at counterfeiting all the good stuff God does. Or you can tell the story of the false idols in the Old Testament.
