Lesson
Do:
Before everything starts you will have the word silent loaded in the trick and unseen. Either start with the trick load with the word listen exposed or with the trick facing you and you will take the alphabet cards and go through them and pick out the ones you need. Let the children see you picking them and show them both sides. Start putting them into the trick and after you have the word “listen” out, turn it around so they can see the word.
Tell:
It has been said God gave us two ears and only one mouth because we should listen more than we speak. You have to listen to learn.
Do:
Point to word
Turn the trick back towards you and begin to pull out the cards.
Tell:
Have you ever tried to talk with someone while they were taking; neither of you will learn anything. Two people talking at the same time and the words will be as jumbled as these letters here.
Do:
Mix the letters up.
Tell:
I will take the letters and let you can choose where they go.
Do:
Hold up one letter at a time with the letter facing you. Let the children decide where the letter will go and place them into the holder. You will be loading them but at this time the word “silent” will be shown.
Tell:
During you time of prayer and reading the bible you need quiet time, peaceful time. Make sure you have that time that is not rushed or noisy.
There is a verse in the bible we find in Psalm 46:10,” Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” When we are quiet, relaxed and listening and being silent,
Do:
Turn the trick around to show the word silent.
Tell:
God will talk to us. He will show us in the bible what He wants for you. In our prayer time if we just stop, be silent, God will show himself to you. Be silent, be quiet and you will be amazed at how awesome He is.
