Everyday tip for your Sunday school lesson or children’s ministry
You are the most important element in children's ministry
In children's work we mainly focus on the programme. What can we do to teach the children something? It is very easy to forget the most important things.
You are the most important element in children's work! The children's worker has a great responsibility towards the children. He/she has to show the children an example of the Christian life. How we live, and how we deal with the children, is therefore much more important than what we tell them.
Bill Wilson, leader of a Sunday school work in New York that eleven thousand children attend every week, says in his book "Whose child is this?:
"In a busy week, I could easily tell a child that I don't have time. Despite having a successful children's church and presenting the Gospel first class, I have known for a long time that if I take the time to put an arm around a child and really listen instead of pretending it will have much more effect than any of the lessons I will ever give".
